"Embassy of Japan in Israel"

I have a special place in my heart for Japan. I studied it for my first and second degrees, read every book and watched every movie I could. But when I needed to get information about traveling there one month before COVID-19 was officially declared a pandemic, I tried visiting their website and got very confused.

Design Process - Behind the Scenes

It is true that web design preferences differ greatly between western and Asian countries, but as a western visitor, I had no idea what was going on. After asking a couple of my friends for their opinions, it seemed they agreed with me. Therefore, I decided I would redesign it as a fun project for myself.

According to my analysis of the current website, it is primarily used as an information platform with many external links.

To add value, I designed it to hold videos, articles, images, and quick access to everything that users may need.

Conclusions

As it was for a government office, it was important to me to keep the Japanese culture in mind, creating an official, clean, and clear look.

Success can be measured in the immediate future by the number of visitors who are quick and efficient to access the information they need, and in the future by the number of visitors who visit longer in order to read articles and watch videos that are already made by the embassy regularly and available only on their Facebook page.

In the future, with the growing ties between Japan and Israel, I believe the embassy's needs will continue to grow and change. Accordingly, I would like to add more useful pages and conduct usability tests to increase further the website's efficiency.
